12 Fun Group Training Ideas To Start 2023 With A Bang

Starting the new year with lots of brand-new group training ideas is a great way to welcome your clients back to class.

And thats why I'm excited to announce that we have just gone live with the Workout Design Clubs first update of 2023.

Thats 12 fun and result-focused group training ideas that will get your clients fired up and back in the groove.

How To Make A Group Fitness Class Fun

Match Maker Pro: A fun interval training workout with a cheeky twist. The objective of this challenge is to find the magic marker (by process of elimination) and gain immunity. It's a tough workout, but great fun.

Funky Intervals: With this exciting new take on Tabata training, you can quickly and easily create hundreds of unique group training ideas based on your favourite Tabata exercises.

Plank Sandwich: When it comes to core training, this is a super-simple way to incorporate a fun core element into a full-body workout. There are so many ways to switch up this format that you'll be spoiled for choice.

Blast Accumulator: This is a simple, yet highly effective fitness test that allows you to assess your client's fitness over time. Players are given a task to build upon to reach the highest score possible.

Shaolin Casino: If you can end your classes with a fun finisher drill, your clients are far more likely to return, and that's why I came up with this bobby dazzler. Shaolin casino is a powerful drill that takes isometric training to a new level of fun. It's a keeper.

Drop Down Turbo: When it comes to fun group training ideas, this is one of my all time favourites. The concept is based on decreasing intervals which can be completed in two unique (but equally fun) ways.

Red Herring: Red Herring is an enjoyable team workout based around the Tabata protocol. The games objective is to find the Red Herrings, which is the only way to stop the activity.

Voted Best Group Training Ideas In 2022 - WDC

Bootcamp ideas

We update the Workout Design Club with over 550 brand-new group training ideas every year. In this week's update, we have included some of our best workouts as voted in 2022.

Devil Games: When was the last time you put your group through some entertaining bootcamp games? If you can't remember, you're in for a treat with this (action-packed) group vs trainer challenge.

Ticket Master: Another fun group fitness game. This time players are battling for the top spot as they make their way through the gauntlet.

Safe Zone: For this drill, you’ll need a deck of well-shuffled playing cards. The objective of the game is to stay in the safe zone. But all is not what it seems in this fast paced full-body blast.

Hot Shot Intervals: Let me show you how to make interval training fun with this little-known coin flip challenge. It's not what you think.

Karate Kid: To conquer this challenge, players must move through a grading system to earn their black belt, which is easier said than done.

As with all our bootcamp workouts, you can add your own bootcamp exercises based around the type of class you want to take.
